When the expansion of the downtown area invaded the Golden Square Miles, the old fortunate district of Montreal, then Westmount started to grown up to became the garden city it is today.
With public buildings of Neo-Tudor architectural style, the small town of Westmount proudly showed the Britannic origin of its founders. Westmount was merged with Montreal city in 2002 then separated in 2006 after a referendum held in 2004.
