Crossed by the Chemin de la Côte-Vertu, the St. Laurent village has in his heart the church headed by the religious community of the Brothers of the Holy Cross. The village is then a small farmer hamlet. It took many years before the village became Saint-Laurent City. Very quickly, however, development is done full speed. Already in 1950, the population is around 20000 inhabitants.
Merged since 2002 with the City of Montreal, the borough of Saint-Laurent is one of the largest of Montreal city with its 43.00 km2 and remains one of the most populous with a population of around 84000 souls. It is also one of the largest industrial centres of the island with major companies like Bombardier.
