Borough Centre-Sud
The borough of Centre-Sud ( south-center) is in fact officially part of the Ville-Marie arrondissement but the district Centre-Sud has an history and a distinct geography so this is why this district deserves its own web page. Squeezed between the street Saint-Hubert, the Jacques-Cartier Bridge, the river and the Sherbrooke Street, this very old district of Montreal changed much through the years. Several big projects ( CBC House, Jacques-Cartier Bridge … ) came to deeply modified one of the first suburb of Montreal. Centre-Sud also called Sainte-Marie was a working class borough very animated and populated. Today Centre-Sud amongst other things saw a certain revival with the increasingly large Gay Village and with a return of residential construction which came to fill many empty lands left abandoned after many fire. 178 Pictures of Centre-Sud, Montréal.
