Underground city Montreal; All buildings

Montreal’s underground city is the biggest underground pedestrian network in the world. Construction started in the sixties with Ville-Marie place connected with the central station, the network keep growing since that day. Montreal’s subway is a central point in that underground grid which relay on eight stations and two subway lines all connected.

Surprisingly, the network did not get planned with precise intention, extension are due to restorations and constructions in different period when new buildings where built.

It year 2003 with the construction of the CDPQ, underground Montreal finally joint its two great sections. Indeed, with the new building, there was finally a connection between the Palais des congres (east part of the network (with Place des Arts and Desjardins complex) and between the western part via the new international district.

Today underground Montreal has an official name; the RESO and finally an organization dedicated to lead pedestrians in this vast extended with the assistance of many pictograms.

It misses however an important link in Montreal underground city in order to complete the loop: a pedestrian link between the Place des Arts and the McGill Subway station. There is of course a possible link via the subway, but it misses a true connection which would thus make it possible for the RESO to make a belt in Montreal downtown.

Here is a series of pictures of all buildings connected to Underground city of Montreal.
