The building was demolished to make way for the new Montreal courthouse.
The company was founded the 24 of July 1880. Near 1914, it was one of the largest banks in the city with its reserve fund of 2.5 million and 54 million in assets and guarantees. It was one of the first institutions to be dedicated to such loans.
At that time, the office of management was led by H. J. H. Thors as president, the honnors J. A. Ouimet as Vice President and Sir Auguste Réal Angers, Rene Brice the In Camondo Moise, A. Denfert-Rochebreau, H. Laporte J. E. Moret Martial Mr Knight as CEO.
In 1979, the Savings Bank of the city and district of Montreal buys Crédit Foncier Franco-Canadien.
