Mr Mortimer was president of the Imperial Tocbacco Company of Canada as the Saint-Antoine factory was one of the largest commercial enterprises in Canada with 3000 employees. He is the son of S. Davis, a shrewd businessman, president of S. Davis & Sons.
He was born in Montreal and was educated in that city, his memory is perpetuated today through many donations made to institutions in the city of Montreal.
Like most businessmen of his time he was a member of many private clubs such as Club Mont-Royal, St. James Club, the Montreal Hunt Club and the Royal Montreal Golf Club.
