This hotel was built in the major development work undertaken by the Canadian National Railway to occupy the space around his Central Train Station which is located just behind.

The Queen Elizabeth Hotel is currently the largest hotel in Montreal with more than 1000 rooms and suites.

The prestigious hotel is now owned by the Fairmont hotel company. Hotel has been recognized as one of the top 500 hotel by the World Travel & Leisure. Building includes among others restaurants the Beaver Club, one of the best in Canada.

It is in this hotel that John Lennon and Yoko Ono made their famous bed-in in protest against the Viet-Nam war (suite 1742).
