History and facts about this building

This 45 meters high tower was erected in 1919 to commemorate the death of seamen killed during the First World War. Erected by the Commission of the Port of Montreal. Four clocks are placed at the top of the tower to show time in all directions. The clock mechanism was made in London by the Gillett & Johnston Company.

Many years ago, a large warehouse occupied almost the entire pier. The tower was designated Historical Federal Building.
