Typical Duplex and triplex of Montreal

Section duplex and triplex combines typical residential buildings constructed in series in residential areas into different parts of the city of Montreal. Far from the idea of us to list them all one by one, we wanted to develop a list of major types of construction in which Montrealers lives as owner or tenant. We tried to find the most beautiful specimens, but also those highly representative of Montrealers neighbourhoods.

You will not find here duplex or triplex for sale, only pictures and architectural descriptions if possible and information on buildings types.

Shaped by events and municipal rules and regulations, habitat of the city has evolved over the centuries, such as the roof Fire, Victorian cornice and the outside stairways. We are far away here from wooden shacks built in Nouvelle-France (quickly banished to the interior gates of the city). Most of Montreal multiplexes were built during the period of great expansion from 1900 to 1920.
