de Maisonneuve Boulevard
The De Maisonneuve is Boulevard obviously named after the founder of the city of Montreal, Paul Chomedey Sieur de Maisonneuve, a former soldier who accompanied Jerome Le Royer de La Dauversiaire during the first trip of the Compagnie de Notre-Dame pour la conversion des sauvages.
This street crossing the city from east to west is recent for its downtown part. The boulevard does not have more than thirty years. It was created because there was a need for a major boulevard for east-west direct traffic to downtown.
