The Milton-Park district is located between Pines street (north border), Sherbrooke Street (south limit), St. Lawrence BLV (east) and McGill University (west). The Milton-Park district is characterized by a very beautiful Victorian architecture. Unfortunately the uncontrolled real estate development which occurred in the Sixties involved the demolition of many beautiful Victorian cottages, leaving room for high-rise apartment towers characterized as much by their similarity than the lack of architectural research. The worst however was avoided: The Concordia project was not built the way it was plans (The full project would needed the destruction of all Milton-Park Area) thanks to the awareness and the fight of citizens of this district.
The “McGill ghetto” name indicates the west part of Park Avenue of Milton-Park district. This name was given because the majority of his citizens are McGill University foreign students living a foot step from their classrooms.
